Eurobodalla Football Association is a southern branch of Football NSW that formed in 1975. It was established to promote and develop football in the Eurobodalla region of New South Wales. They represent many clubs and include players from all around the area from Batemans Bay to Narooma.
A team representing the association is making their way down to Canberra and they are very excited. The under 15 boys are preparing for their first appearance at the tournament this winter and can’t wait to get started.
Keryn White, parent of Max White, a player from the team, has told us all about the prep for the Eurobodalla boys.
“This team has built a strong connection with each other and their coaches after many years of being together,” White told Kanga Cup.
“Most players also have their other favourite activities, but they all join in interest for one thing. Most of the squad have played together since U10s, guided throughout by the same two volunteer coaches.
Off the pitch the boys are champion swimmers, mountain bike riders, surfers, devoted readers—and, yes, the occasional gamer—but they’re united by a passion for football and a love of healthy competition.”
The team is hoping the tournament will give them an amazing experience playing together and connecting as a team. For the Eurobodalla teams it’s just as important to explore the city as well as play, so the team has constructed a well-rounded itinerary of their activities for the down time.
“The Kanga Cup offers the perfect combination of challenge and experience: a full week of high-quality matches against teams of comparable ability, all in Canberra’s famously crisp winter conditions,” White commented.
“Between fixtures the team has planned recovery sessions at an indoor pool, a team dinner at the Burns Club buffet, a lap around the Power Kart Raceway and, if time allows a little retail therapy.”
This team not only desires to compete, but they deserve it too. The team took their own initiative, and they proved they are worthy of taking part in the tournament and having some fun on the side.
“In the leadup to the tournament the boys ran sausage sizzle fundraisers and secured community sponsorships, covering their entry fees and purchasing team jackets,” White revealed. “Their initiative and sportsmanship have made families and coaches alike proud.
“We’re excited to see how the Eurobodalla U15s test themselves on the national stage and to showcase the talent emerging from our region.”
After all their hard work, Eurobodalla Football Association will get to enjoy a week of playing football and having fun while playing teams from New South Wales, Canberra, and New Zealand.
