REFEREE AT THE 2023 KEEPUP KANGA CUP

May 26, 2023

The 2023 KEEPUP Kanga Cup Organising Committee (KCOC) are now seeking registrations from registered Game Leaders and Referees who would like to officiate at the 2023 KEEPUP Kanga Cup in July as a ‘Local Referee’.

Referees and Game Leaders play a critical role in the facilitation and success of the KEEPUP Kanga Cup which provides a unique opportunity for local junior referees to experience officiating at the largest International Youth Football Tournament in the Southern Hemisphere.

The KCOC are looking for referees of differing levels, from Game Leaders in their first year of officiating through to Level 4 Referees or higher who have been officiating for a prolonged period.

Anyone can register as a ‘Local Referee’ if they are:

  • A registered Game Leader with Capital Football or other Referee Association.
  • A registered Referee (Level 4 or higher) with Capital Football.
  • A registered Referee (Level 4 or higher) with a Member Federation or Referee Association who has not been selected to participate in the Kanga Cup Referee Youth Academy (KCRYA).

As a Local referee you will receive a match payment for each match you officiate, ranging from $6 to $36 per match. If you officiate regularly during the week you can expect to earn between $100 and $300 from the tournament!

Additionally, referees will receive coaching and support from our dedicated team of Venue Referee Coordinators and Referee Coaches (local, interstate, and international)as part of the KEEPUP Kanga Cup Referee Curriculum developed by the Head of Referees.

As part of the Referee Training and Education program, the KCOC will deliver four (4) training sessions for Referees and Game Leaders on Sunday 11th and Monday 12th June. These practical sessions run for two (2) hours and will focus on specific Referee, Assistant Referee & MiniRoos drills which aim to prepare all Local Referees for the Tournament.

The KCOC encourages anyone who is a registered referee to register, including if you are traveling to the KEEPUP Kanga Cup because you have a brother, sister, son, or daughter who is playing in the Tournament.

Referees and Game Leaders can now register for the KEEPUP Kanga Cup as a ‘Local Referee’ by completing the Local Referee Registration Form before 9am Monday 12th June.
