The 2016 NSR Kanga Cup Opening Ceremony will take place at Stage 88 in Commonwealth Park, Canberra on Sunday 3rd July at 12.00pm. The iconic venue, which has hosted some of Australia’s and the worlds biggest music acts, including David Guetta, and is home to the famous Floriade exhibition, will host the competition opener for the first time and promises to be a spectacular way to kick-off a week of fun, football and friendship.
The Opening Ceremony will feature the traditional team march with competitors and coaches invited to parade their club colours and banners ahead of the tournament with the best banner winning a prize to be announced at a later date. This is always be hugely popular moment for the participants and is often recalled with pride by the competing clubs and watching parents!
This year the Opening Ceremony will also feature a host of new initiatives and entertainment, and the open spaces of the spectacular venue allows for the Organising Committee to showcase a real ‘Day of Football’ for the spectators with a number of activities planned around the official Opening Ceremony.
