Northern Suburbs Football Association Coming Together for McDonald’s Kanga Cup

May 20, 2021

On the eve of registrations closing for the 2021 McDonald’s Kanga Cup (collective gasp!), let’s meet the association who this year has signed up the greatest number of teams in the country!

Northern Suburbs Football Club (NSFA) is the organising body that administers community football in the northern suburb regions of Sydney, New South Wales.

A staggering 67 teams from a range of clubs and development league teams have registered, including Chatswood Rangers SC, Lane Cove FC, Lane Cove West FC, Linfield FC, North Sydney United and Northbridge FC.

Cormac Begley from Lane Cove West said it’s always a fantastic week for all players, parents and staff to come together.

“Kanga Cup is the perfect opportunity for our squads to bond and play some top quality football against different opponents over the course of the tournament week in Canberra,” he said.

“The tournament comes at the perfect time during the season when we can bring all of our experience, training and preparation into competitive match practice on a daily basis.

“The week is also brilliant for our players, parents and coaches to spend time together.”

CEO of NSFA Ed Ferguson said it’s always a worthwhile trip to the Nation’s Capital and one that is highly encouraged.

“It’s a great opportunity for the clubs and teams to go away, for both the social element but also the player and coach development,” Ferguson said.

“We encourage all the clubs and teams to go down there and I think the comradery that’s built within the clubs and teams, is definitely one of the highlights and benefits as to why people keep coming back.

“It creates positive club cultures in a great environment that we want to see in our teams and throughout the NSFA and I guess that’s why we’ve always been supportive and encourage teams and clubs to get along.”

Registrations close May 21, sign up here.
