With cases of COVID-19 in several NSW Local Government Areas (LGAs), Capital Football is developing contingency plans to ensure the successful hosting of the 2021 McDonald’s Kanga Cup.
On 30 June 2021, NSW and the ACT will review restrictions in their respective jurisdictions.
If the NSW and ACT Governments lift restrictions on travel for persons within COVID-affected NSW LGAs (currently City of Sydney, Waverley, Randwick, Canada Bay, Inner West, Bayside and Woollahra) on 30 June 2021, the 2021 McDonald’s Kanga Cup will proceed as planned.
If the situation in NSW continues to escalate, and the NSW and ACT Governments do not lift travel restrictions on 30 June 2021, Capital Football may need to deliver the 2021 McDonalds Kanga Cup without teams that are restricted in travel due to government regulations.
A decision regarding this situation will be made after Government announcements on 30 June 2021.
Capital Football understands that other State jurisdictions may impose restrictions on travel if the situation escalates and will continue to communicate with our stakeholders as the situation evolves.
