The culmination of the 2024 edition of the Kanga Cup took place at Southwell Park in Lyneham on Friday as thirty-five Grand Finals were played, deciding the fate of the silverware following a week of intense competitive action played on grounds across Canberra and Jerrabomberra.
As ever, Grand Final day threw up plenty of memorable moments and action aplenty, as games were decided by individual brilliance, wonderful team ethic, and in some cases, by who held their nerve the best in the dreaded penalty shoot-out.
“The Grand Finals were a wonderful conclusion to a fantastic week of football which fully epitomised our tournament ethos of Fun, Friendship and Football,” CEO of organising Federation Capital Football, Samantha Farrow, commented.
“It was amazing to see so many smiling faces around the grounds throughout the week, and the whole tournament was a credit to the many tireless volunteers, and members of staff on the organising committee.
“With an entry list of over 360 teams, it’s logistically very difficult to run this tournament, so I am very thankful to everyone who has put the effort in, not only during the week itself, but also in the build-up to the event. We hope everyone enjoyed themselves to the maximum.”
