Come to Canberra this July

December 7, 2017

Canberra in July is a wonderful place to be. Why? Because it’s NSR Kanga Cup time! The 26th NSR Kanga Cup will take place between Sunday 3rd July and Friday 8th July commencing with a massive opening Ceremony and concluding with a high-action finals day at our football hub at Southwell Park.

But it’s not just the football that’s an attraction for teams when they visit the Capital City. Surrounded by forest, farmland and nature reserves, it earns its nickname, the “Bush Capital.” The city’s focal point is Lake Burley Griffin, filled with sailboats and kayaks. On the lakeshore is the massive, strikingly modern Parliament House, as well as museums including the National Gallery, known for its indigenous art collections, and Questacon – a must visit for NSR Kanga Cup teams!

Indeed, there is plenty to occupy competing teams in their down time in Canberra. A visit to the National Zoo and Aquarium is highly recommended, as is a trip to the Arboretum or the Australian National Botanic Gardens. Then there is the War Memorial – rated as one of the top attractions in the country. Add in Cockington Green Gardens, National Dinosaur Museum and Power Kart Raceway and there is no shortage of activities to keep the everyone busy.

Fancy inspiring the next generation of World class athletes? Book your team in for a tour of the Australian Institute of Sport. Go behind the scenes on an award-winning AIS Tour and experience Australia’s premier elite sports precinct.

All this is just the tip of the iceberg. With plenty to see and do, Canberra is ready and waiting to show you its hidden treasures when you arrive for the 2016 NSR Kanga Cup. Just don’t forget your coat!
