Michelle Heyman announced as 2017 NSR Kanga Cup Ambassador

December 7, 2017

The 2017 NSR Kanga Cup Organising Committee (KCOC) are delighted to announce that Westfield Matildas Striker and Canberra United Captain Michelle Heyman will be the tournament ambassador for 2017.

Heyman is a widely recognised footballing identity both throughout Australia and across the world, and her brand visibility combined with her loveable persona makes her the perfect ambassador for the Southern Hemisphere’s largest junior football tournament.

Tournament Director Megan Salic said that Heyman’s status in football and her attitude towards helping grow the game made her an easy choice for the Organising Committee.

“Michelle’s willingness to help out and become an NSR Kanga Cup ambassador for 2017 speaks volumes about her desire to see football continue to grow,” Tournament Director Megan Salic said.

“By having ambassadors for the NSR Kanga Cup, with a footballing image like Michelle, we hope that the Juniors really can see where football can take them further on.”

Heyman, who is working her way back to fitness following a Westfield W-League season plagued by injury, was only too happy to take on the role of NSR Kanga Cup Ambassador for 2017.

“I’m very excited to be the Ambassador for the NSR Kanga Cup,” she said, “and super excited to really see how big football is in Australia.”

“I love watching the growth of the game, and I hope that by myself and other athletes taking on positons like this, that we can further that growth even more.”

Michelle Heyman will be seen around the grounds and events of the 2017 NSR Kanga Cup, and fans will also have the opportunity to purchase merchandise from her ‘MH23’ range of branded clothing.

On Tuesday the 4th July, Heyman will be hosting a VIP welcome at Rashays restaurant at Westfield Belconnen. Tickets will be made available for the event soon.
