McDonald’s Kanga Cup partners with Kambri Precinct at Australian National University

June 24, 2019

Get right amongst the round ball action in Canberra this July!

As the largest international youth football tournament in the southern hemisphere, the McDonald’s Kanga Cup is a natural home for the new Kambri precinct at The Australian National University.

With a super fun social and sporting program featuring family-friendly activities for all ages and stages, it’s the perfect location to complement busy days of McDonald’s Kanga Cup football.

Join us from 8–13 July for the best of sport, culture, food, and friendship, all in the one new, dynamic and welcoming setting.

Megan Salic, Tournament Director, believes the Kambri Precinct is an excellent space for participants to wind down after a day of football.

“Having spent time at Kambri myself, I can vouch for the fact our tournament participants are going to reap many benefits from this location. It’s an exciting area full of the latest retail outlets and compelling spaces,” Salic said.

There are heaps of free activities at Kambri for kids and families looking for more exciting soccer experiences while in Canberra, including:

Kanga Kids Skills Sessions

A daytime program of free, fun soccer skills and coaching sessions on the custom-created playing areas at Kambri. The sessions will be run by talented academy coaches and players and will be open to all McDonald’s Kanga Cup kids, as well as general fans and players in Canberra, whether they’re new to football or looking to become an elite player.

Girls Get Out There

To coincide with the recent women’s international tournament, the McDonald’s Kanga Cup will offer young girls of all football abilities a daytime program of free, super-fun soccer skills and coaching sessions on the specially made football playing area at Kambri. The sessions will be run by a group of talented female coaches and players, as well as a number of invited female pro players showing their own tips and tricks. Although female-oriented, the activity will be an encouraging and inclusive environment.

McDonald’s Kanga Cup Young Guns

A skills and tricks competition open to all ages, challenging kids to show off their talents! This will be an opportunity for individual players to test their skills via a series of challenges.

McDonald’s Kanga Cup Viewing Party

The Kanga Cup crowd don’t contain their love of sport to only soccer! Wednesday Night New South Wales and Queensland will come head to head in Game 3 of their rugby league series. This game is extremely popular due to the fact that many attendees come from New South Wales and Queensland, so this year the McDonald’s Kanga Cup visitors will be invited to come together at the Badger & Co bar in Kambri to watch the big game, have a meal, some drinks, and a great time. It’ll be a highlight of the Kanga Cup social calendar!
