Canberra Construction – Detours during 2017 NSR Kanga Cup

December 7, 2017

As part of the ACT Government’s Light Rail project in the City of Canberra, significant roadworks have being undertaken and will continue to be, including during the 2017 NSR Kanga Cup.

On the weekend of the 1st & 2nd of July, the intersection of Northbourne Avenue and Antill/Mouat Street will be closed for construction works. The major works will conclude in the early morning of July 3rd, however there will still be some traffic restrictions in place following this.

Vehicles travelling North on Northbourne Avenue will be unable to turn right into Antill street, restricting access via that route to the Dickson Playing Fields in particular.

People travelling from the City for the opening ceremony are asked to avoid the closed intersection, and instead find an alternate route.

The ACT Government have provided the below three maps for the different stages of the intersection closure.

Getting to the Opening Ceremony (2nd July)

Kanga Cup Southwell/Dickson Access (3rd July onwards)
