With registrations now closed for the 2017 NSR Kanga Cup, this year’s event is already promising to be bigger and better than ever.
An enormous 392 teams have registered for this edition of the Southern Hemisphere’s largest Junior Football tournament, with 70% of teams coming from outside the host city of Canberra.
Six teams will be making the trip down under this year from South Korea, while four will make the trip across the Tasman from New Zealand; a mixture of female and male teams from both countries.
Tournament Director Megan Salic said that the number of teams was a fantastic indicator of the NSR Kanga Cup’s standing in the Australian and International football communities.
“To have so many teams from such a wide range of areas is simply fantastic,” she said.
“The entire organisation is looking forward to taking on yet another NSR Kanga Cup and making it more enjoyable and inclusive than ever before.”
Meanwhile, the Opening Ceremony for the 2017 NSR Kanga Cup is in its final planning stages, with the gala event set to take place at the Athletics Track of the Australian Institute of Sport.
Beginning at 2pm on Sunday the 2nd July, the Ceremony will see all 392 teams of the 2017 NSR Kanga Cup process around the track in front of their peers, families and competitors.
Final details regarding the Opening Ceremony will be sent out to registered teams in the month approaching the tournament.
