The countdown continues to the 2016 NSR Kanga Cup with just over one month to go. Preparations are in full swing for the largest youth football tournament in the Southern Hemisphere with team entries in and the draws currently being calculated. Teams can expect to know their provisional pools by Wednesday 8th June with the full draw to be published on Monday 27th June.
“It’s all systems go in the NSR Kanga Cup office,” confirmed Tournament Director Michael Kelly. “The nominations and registrations process is now over and our tournament staff are busy working on the logistics of the draw with the record number of teams that we have. It’s a mammoth effort, but we are confident we will be able to provide a high quality and diverse draw for each participant.
“There are a massive number of teams once again (nearly 370) in the competition and we are looking forward to welcoming them all to Canberra in July. The NSR Kanga Cup is, traditionally, the highlight of the season for most of the teams who are arriving in Canberra and we will be out to make sure that they have the best week possible and will be keen to come back for more next year.”
The 2016 NSR Kanga Cup will run Sunday 3rd July to Friday 8th July commencing with the HUGE official Opening Ceremony at Stage 88 – always a highlight for players, officials and parents alike.
With a proud history of providing a playing field that allows clubs to experience playing teams from different states and territories, as well as the chance to compete against our international visitors, the 2016 edition of the NSR Kanga Cup will no doubt take its place in the annals of the competitions storied past.
