Each and every year the Kanga Cup delivers something special for the thousands of participants, many of whom travel many hundreds of kilometres to be with us here in Canberra for the week of Fun, Friendship, and Football. And each and every year, they are met by the smiling faces and unbeatable spirit of our raft of volunteers, those dedicated few who selflessly give of themselves to help the Kanga Cup continue to be an unparalleled success and the biggest Youth football competition in the Southern Hemisphere.
Volunteering at the Kanga Cup is a memorable experience for everyone who gives up their time to help facilitate this unique competition, a place where friendships are forged on and off the field, amidst the chilly July morning’s, across five days of healthy competitive action. Our volunteers are like a team of their own, and they should be treated like you would treat any opposition, with respect.
Around the venues of the 2025 Kanga Cup, you will no doubt see our Kanga Cup clad heroes – our volunteer task force that show amazing dedication, effort, and commitment, attributes that are irreplaceable and, quite simply, the Kanga Cup would not exist without it. Our volunteers complete a multitude of tasks from field set-up and take down, ground management, retail, team liaison, media, administration, referee coordination and logistics, amongst others.
Being a volunteer has lots of benefits. It can bring meaning and purpose to your life, while increasing your self-esteem and wellbeing. Volunteering can also relieve stress and alleviate symptoms of depression. As well as having a positive impact on your community, volunteering can improve your relationships. And, whilst they love what they do, remember, they are here giving up their personal time for you!
